19BT31 is a 240v heating mantle with metal housing and built-in time percentage on/off controller designed to heat 4000 ml round-bottom glass flasks. This durable, self-supporting housing offers chemical resistance and is safe to the touch. With a knit fiberglass insulated heating basket, this heating mantle provides a long service life and uniform heating up to 842° F (450° C). Our metal-housed heating mantles are ideal for boiling and distilling style round bottom flasks with the ability to maintain or increase temperature in laboratory applications.

About Heating Mantles with Metal Housings & Built-In Controller
The Cary Company’s metal-housed heating mantles feature a metal housing with plastic coating to provide moisture and chemical resistance to the unit. The housing is thermally insulated and safe to touch. Self supporting and heavy duty, metal-housed heating mantles offer additional stability and safety during use compared to stand alone heating mantles.

The heating element consists of a chrome-nickel alloy resistance wire which is electrically insulated using a crocheted high-temperature yarn. The adapted shape ensures an even heat transition to the glass flask, and a layer of fiberglass insulation under the heating element reduces heat dissipation to increase efficiency. This pre-molded liner is compatible with round bottom flasks including boiling and distilling style flasks for a variety of lab applications.

These metal-housed heating mantles include a built-in time percentage on/off controller. The heating power can be adjusted according to the liquid level in the flask by switching the min/max switch. These units also feature a yellow indicator light to indicate the power is on.

The 120V model includes a standard 3-prong plug (NEMA 5-15) and the 240V model features crimped ferrule terminated leads. These units are capable of operating temperatures up to 842&deg F (450° C). Due to the high temperature range, the heating mantles are not protected against moisture and the heater core is not equipped with sufficient protection against dangerous currents.
